Authorities in Toronto's east-end have charged a total of five individuals, comprising three youths and two adults, in connection with a firearm investigation. The incident occurred shortly before midnight on July 5, 2025, when an altercation erupted between two groups; one group was in a vehicle while the other was gathered on the street near the intersection of Coxwell Avenue and Gerrard Street East.
During this confrontation, a firearm was discharged from the vehicle towards the individuals on the street. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident, although some property sustained damage due to the gunfire.
In the days following the shooting, investigators from the Toronto police department took swift action. On July 18, they identified and apprehended two male youths who were connected to the incident. These individuals were specifically charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, indicating the seriousness of the allegations against them.
Authorities continued their investigations and, on July 24, executed a search warrant at a location related to the suspects. During this operation, police were able to recover two loaded semi-automatic handguns, which significantly escalated the gravity of the case.
Following the recovery of these firearms, authorities proceeded to arrest three additional individuals, including one man, one woman, and one female youth. The arrests were part of a broader effort to address gun violence and ensure public safety in the region.
Faebian Dos Santos, a 19-year-old male from Toronto, was arrested on six charges, which included serious offenses such as discharging a firearm with intent and possessing a firearm without a license. The presence of such charges highlights the dangerous implications of the altercation and the use of firearms in the incident.
Another individual arrested in connection with this case was Kayleigh Williamson, a 20-year-old woman also from Toronto. She faces charges that include possession of a loaded prohibited firearm, as well as failing to comply with a release order, raising questions about her prior interactions with law enforcement.
Lastly, a female youth, whose identity cannot be disclosed due to the protections offered under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, faces two charges. These include possession of a restricted firearm and possession of a firearm knowing that its serial number has been tampered with. This particular charge raises concerns about the origins and legality of the firearms involved in the incident.
As the investigation unfolds, the Toronto police are likely to focus on the underlying issues related to firearm possession and youth involvement in such violence, calling for further discussions on community safety and preventive measures against gun-related incidents in urban areas.
