Peel Regional Police are intensifying their efforts to address problematic gatherings at Trinity Common Mall in Brampton, which have been associated with reckless driving, public drinking, fireworks, and excessive noise. The increase in such activities has raised significant concerns among local residents and business owners.

Constable Tyler Bell-Morena addressed the issue in a video statement, highlighting that the mall area has become a focal point for disruptive behavior. Despite police intervention, which has included laying hundreds of charges, making several arrests, and impounding numerous vehicles, the unruly gatherings continue to persist.

The most recent incident occurred on Friday, August 16, when officers apprehended a man on dangerous driving-related charges following a car meet at the mall. Police reports indicate that while responding to a call, they observed a white Dodge Challenger exhibiting dangerous driving behavior and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver attempted to evade the police, but officers managed to contain the vehicle, preventing any high-speed pursuit. According to the release, after stopping the vehicle, the driver exited and attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended after a brief chase.

The driver, identified as Ajaypreet Sidhu, a 21-year-old from Brampton, is facing multiple charges, including racing a motor vehicle, obstructing a license plate, public nuisance, and fleeing from a police officer. Following his arrest, Sidhu was released on an undertaking, while his driver’s license was suspended, and his vehicle was impounded.

Constable Bell-Morena emphasized the police department’s commitment to monitoring the situation and making further arrests if necessary. He explicitly stated that the mall is not a suitable location for parties, car meets, fireworks, racing, or any behavior that poses a risk to the community or disrupts the normal operations for residents and local businesses.

Furthermore, he made it clear that those who do not have legitimate reasons to be at the property, cannot conduct themselves appropriately, or do not have authorization are not welcome. He noted that both residents and law enforcement are increasingly frustrated with the ongoing disturbances.

The police's stance indicates a strong resolve to restore order at Trinity Common Mall and ensure that it remains a safe space for the community. The continuous interventions highlight the severity of the situation and the need for collective efforts to curb such unruly behaviors in public spaces.
