Police in York Region are actively searching for at least four suspects following a dramatic home invasion that occurred in Vaughan in the early hours of Wednesday morning. The incident took place around 2:30 a.m. in the vicinity of Timber Creek Boulevard and Major Mackenzie Drive West.
Security footage captured during the invasion reveals a group of four male suspects who violently forced their way into the residence using an axe and an extendable baton. Fortunately, police confirmed that the suspects did not succeed in stealing any belongings and fled the scene in a black SUV. Thankfully, no physical injuries were reported among the occupants of the home during this frightening experience.
Descriptions of the suspects have been provided by authorities to aid in the investigation. The first suspect is described as a male wearing a black hoodie, black pants, white shoes, and a black mask. Notably, he was also seen carrying an axe during the incident. The second suspect is also male and was seen in similar attire—black hoodie, black pants, white shoes, and a black mask—though he was additionally wearing black and white gloves.
The third suspect is described as a male dressed in a grey and navy hoodie, navy pants featuring a white stripe down each side, a white mask, black gloves, and white shoes. Meanwhile, the fourth suspect is another male who was last seen in a black hoodie, black pants, black shoes, and white gloves, and was noted to be carrying an expandable baton.
This alarming home invasion comes merely ten days after two separate home invasions reported in the same vicinity, specifically the Major Mackenzie Drive and Highway 27 area. One of these previous incidents led to the tragic death of 46-year-old Abdul Aleem Farooqi, raising concerns about the safety of residents in the area.
While police have not indicated any direct connections between these recent incidents, the timing and nature of the crimes have intensified scrutiny and prompted concerns from the community regarding their safety and security.
