The Milano Cortina Winter Olympics are approaching, with hockey enthusiasts eagerly anticipating the event set to begin in less than three months. In preparation for this prestigious international competition, Hockey Canada has unveiled its new uniforms, which were revealed during the first intermission of the Rivalry Series women's game between Team USA and Canada.

The new Olympic uniforms, designed in Canada’s signature white and red colors, prominently feature maple leaf crests that are described as resembling an "unbreakable diamond." This design choice aims to symbolize resilience, as Hockey Canada draws parallels between the pressure associated with competitive ice hockey and the durability of a diamond. The Canadian women's team is hoping to secure a second consecutive gold medal at the Olympics, while the men's team will attract significant attention, as NHL players will be returning to Olympic competition after a hiatus of over a decade.

“Every stitch reflects our resilience, pride, and belonging, forged through time and pressure,” stated Hockey Canada in a social media announcement accompanying the uniform reveal. The diamond motif not only represents strength and durability but also underscores the commitment to excellence within Canada’s hockey culture. The white jerseys will showcase a multi-tone red maple leaf crest, while the red uniforms will feature a black version of the same iconic symbol.

Hockey Canada President and CEO Katherine Henderson expressed excitement about the new jerseys, emphasizing their representation of Canadian hockey and the reverence Canadian fans hold for their athletes. She stated, "As fans eagerly await the start of the women's, men's, and para hockey tournaments in Milan, we are excited to unveil the jerseys our athletes will wear as they represent all Canadians across the country and around the world on the biggest stage." Henderson also highlighted the anticipation surrounding the event, especially with the goal of capturing gold medals in Italy.

The women’s hockey tournament is scheduled to commence on February 5, followed by the men's tournament starting on February 12. The Canadian Paralympic hockey team will begin their competition on March 7, providing additional opportunities for Canada to showcase its hockey prowess on an international stage.

David Shoemaker, the CEO and Secretary General of the Canadian Olympic Committee, also commented on the significance of the new uniforms, stating, “More than just uniforms, these jerseys reflect the pride, passion, and history of Canada’s Olympic hockey legacy.” He highlighted that these Games are particularly noteworthy as they mark the return of NHL players and the first Olympic Winter Games following the inception of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). Shoemaker emphasized the historical importance of this moment, expressing his eagerness to support both the men’s and women’s teams as they compete at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics.
