A teenager has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder for the fatal stabbing of an 83-year-old woman, Eleanor Doney, outside her home in Pickering in 2025. The court proceedings took place on a Thursday in Oshawa, where an agreed statement of facts was presented that outlines the circumstances of Doney’s death.

The 14-year-old assailant, whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was seen on surveillance footage walking on Lynn Heights Drive while Doney was raking leaves in her front yard on May 29. The documented details reveal that the teen, dressed in a black jacket, face mask, and gloves, approached Doney and engaged her in conversation for about two minutes just before 3 p.m. He subsequently retrieved a knife from a briefcase and stabbed her on the left side of her neck.

Following the initial strike, Doney attempted to make her way back to her house but was pursued by the teen, who stabbed her two additional times. The footage captured Doney's cries as she fell to the sidewalk, where she was subjected to further repeated stabbings in the face. During assessments, a defense psychologist revealed the teen admitted to experiencing violent ideations leading up to the murder, and he consciously decided to carry out his plan upon encountering Doney.
