OTTAWA – Mark Carney is set to lead his first Liberal convention as party leader and prime minister in the spring of 2026. The Liberal Party of Canada's national board of directors has announced that the convention will take place in Montreal from April 9 to 11, 2026.

This significant event is scheduled to occur one year after Carney secured a commanding leadership mandate from the party's members, achieving a first-ballot victory on March 9, 2025. His leadership has positioned him as a pivotal figure in Canadian politics, and this upcoming convention will be key to laying the foundation for the party's future direction.
