The family said, “Although we remain utterly devastated, we are now in the process of planning the funeral for our three dear children, which is something no parent should ever have to endure. For now, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to all of the first responders and hospital staff who tended to us, as well as the members of our community and others who have been extremely supportive.”
According to reports, on the Sunday of the May long weekend, a horrific crash occurred when a suspected drunk driver exited Highway 401 near Renforth Drive in Etobicoke. The collision resulted in the deaths of 15-year-old Ramone Lavina, his 13-year-old brother Jace, and their 6-year-old sister Mya, who were all traveling in their family’s minivan at the time of the incident.
In a development that followed the tragedy, an Ontario court lifted the publication ban that had previously shielded the identities of the children at the Crown's request. This has allowed for greater public awareness of the situation and the profound sorrow experienced by the family.
