Toronto Hydro has successfully restored power to over 64,000 customers who were affected by the storm that struck the city on September 2nd. The utility company continues to work on restoring power for the remaining 500 customers, whose situations are considered more complex due to hazardous conditions, including downed power lines and damaged electrical equipment.
According to an online update from Toronto Hydro on Saturday, they are working diligently to address a significant volume of repairs. The company acknowledged the ongoing challenges faced by those still without power, stating, “We recognize this continues to be a difficult and frustrating experience for those still awaiting restoration.”
The storm that occurred on September 2nd is regarded as one of the most severe weather events in recent years. It caused extensive damage to trees and electrical infrastructure across the region. The aftermath has left several areas, notably Midtown Toronto, particularly hard-hit, dealing with significant power outages.
In response to the widespread impact of the storm, Toronto Hydro is actively engaging with affected communities. They have organized community outreach sessions to connect directly with those who have been impacted. One of the key events is taking place on Saturday at the North Toronto Memorial Community Centre, located at 200 Eglinton Avenue West in Forest Hill. This session is part of a series of three community check-in events aimed at providing support and information to residents dealing with the aftermath of the storm.
The other two community outreach sessions are scheduled to occur at the Main Square Community Centre at 245 Main Street and the Northwood Community Centre at 15 Clubhouse Court in North York. All three sessions are set to run from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., providing an opportunity for residents to voice concerns and receive assistance regarding their power outages.
Residents who encounter electrical hazards are encouraged to contact Toronto Hydro directly by calling 416-542-8000 and pressing 1. As the utility company continues its efforts, it remains committed to restoring power and ensuring safety throughout the affected areas.
