Ornge, a critical care transportation service based in Ontario, has announced that both of its Toronto-based air ambulances will be temporarily out of service throughout the weekend due to maintenance issues. In a recent statement, the organization confirmed that one helicopter will be undergoing maintenance for a period of 48 hours, while the second helicopter is scheduled to remain out of service until July 18, also for maintenance purposes.

During this maintenance period, Ornge will implement contingency plans to ensure that emergency medical services continue to operate efficiently. These plans involve the deployment of helicopters from other bases situated throughout the province, in addition to the support from extra Ornge land ambulances stationed in Toronto. This approach aims to maintain a high level of service despite the temporary unavailability of the air ambulances.

Ornge operates helicopters out of several locations within Ontario, including Sudbury, Toronto, London, and Ottawa. These helicopters provide critical care transportation services, responding to emergency calls across southern and central Ontario. The organization has indicated that it remains in close communication with its helicopter manufacturer to ensure that necessary parts are delivered swiftly, helping to minimize any potential delays in returning to full service.

The commitment of Ornge to restore full helicopter air ambulance service as promptly as possible is reflected in their proactive measures and strategic planning. This reinforces their dedication to providing essential emergency medical transportation to regions that rely on their air ambulances for critical care services.
