A man is currently wanted by the Toronto police in connection to a suspected hate-motivated assault that took place near Corktown Commons. The incident under investigation occurred on August 1, just before 5:30 p.m., at the intersection of Bayview Avenue and Front Street East.

According to reports, the victim was in a park engaging in a phone conversation when the suspect allegedly approached him unprovoked. The suspect began to swear at the victim, using homophobic slurs, which heightened the distressing nature of the encounter.

As the verbal confrontation escalated, the suspect reportedly questioned the victim about whether he was recording him on his phone. The situation became more alarming when the suspect attempted to kick the victim during this hostile interaction.

In an effort to escape the threatening situation, the victim fled into a nearby establishment. However, the suspect followed him inside, creating a scene that necessitated police involvement once the victim managed to contact law enforcement.

The suspect is described as a brown male, approximately 40 years old, with a height of about five foot 10 inches. He is characterized as having a lean build, grey stubble, a beard, and longer hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a dark-colored baseball hat, making him identifiable to authorities.

This investigation is being classified as a suspected hate-motivated offense, emphasizing the need for community awareness and vigilance in the face of such intolerable actions.
