Two residents of Brampton, Ontario, are currently facing serious charges following the discovery that they fabricated a story about a carjacking incident. The incident in question reportedly took place on September 18, 2023, in the vicinity of Old School Road and Mississauga Road.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Caledon received a call regarding an alleged carjacking, prompting them to launch an investigation. Initial reports indicated that one of the men claimed that their vehicle was involved in a collision. Following this, he alleged that two suspects approached them, with one brandishing a handgun, and forcibly stole their vehicle before fleeing the scene.

However, as the investigation unfolded, police officers began to uncover evidence suggesting that the story of the carjacking was entirely fabricated. This development revealed that the alleged carjacking was, in fact, part of a more intricate fraud scheme orchestrated by the two men. Consequently, the authorities took action based on their findings.

As a result of the investigation, police officials charged Raji Sharma, 38, and Meeraj Tandon, 40, both from Brampton, with public mischief and fraud exceeding $5,000. These charges highlight the serious nature of their actions and the implications of engaging in fraudulent activities.

The two individuals are scheduled to face court proceedings, where they will have the opportunity to respond to the charges levied against them.
