Toronto police have made an arrest in connection with a retail robbery that took place in North York, a district within the city. The incident occurred on July 14, specifically around 11:45 a.m., at a store located near the intersection of Islington Avenue and Millwick Drive.

According to police reports, the alleged perpetrator entered the store while wearing a mask to conceal his identity. Once inside, he approached the individual working behind the counter and reportedly demanded cash. The suspect was wielding a blunt object concealed under a towel and directed it towards the employee's shoulder, which created a sense of immediate threat during the encounter.

The victim complied with the demands, opening the cash register. The suspect seized an undisclosed amount of cash from the register and promptly fled the scene, escaping in a truck that had been parked outside the store. This swift getaway raised concerns and prompted a full investigation by the police.

Following the robbery, an investigation was launched, during which officers worked diligently to identify the suspect. Their efforts led them to pinpoint a suspect, which culminated in a significant development on July 21. On that day, officers managed to stop the suspect while he was operating his vehicle. A search warrant was subsequently executed on the vehicle, which proved fruitful for the investigation.

During the search, police recovered clothing that the suspect allegedly wore during the commission of the robbery. This evidence played a crucial role in substantiating the charges against him. The suspect was identified as Christophe Thompson, a 35-year-old resident of Toronto.

As a result of the investigation, Thompson was charged with serious offenses, including robbery with an offensive weapon and disguise with intent. The nature of these charges indicates the gravity of the situation and the potential consequences he faces if convicted.
