The police began investigating following a call received on November 11, around 3:45 PM, regarding an indecent act occurring in the vicinity of Sumach and Wellesley streets. It is alleged that a 10-year-old boy was strolling in the area when Macfarlane approached him on a scooter and committed an indecent act. The boy and the suspect were not previously acquainted.
Further inquiries revealed that the suspect was involved in similar incidents spanning from May to November of the same year. Reports indicate that Macfarlane targeted a total of four additional victims during this timeframe. Among these victims, one was under 13 years old, two were minors under 18, and one was an adult.
